τελικα οτι περιμενα περισυ, μου ηρθε με ενα χρονο καθυστερηση...δε συμβαινει μονο με το LP των φακτορυ φλορ, συμβαινει και στις ζωες μας.
περπατω βουλιαζωντας στις λασπες, γλιστρωντας πανω στις στραβες ραγες που βολταρει ενα σιδερενιο κουτι, πηγαινοντας μπρος πισω τη νυστα δεκα ανθρωπων, καθε βραδυ. ολοι με πορτοκαλι ρουχα, βαμμενα με σκουρια, γρασσο, καποιοι μασωντας καπνο, καποιοι μασωντας τα λεπτα μεχρι να ξημερωσει. μακροστενες λαμπες ανα πενηντα μετρα διαγραφουν μια νοητη καμπυλη. πεπιεσμενος αερας ξεφυσα μεσα απο σκουριασμενες αντλιες και αλμυρα τρυπαει το παχυ σκυροδεμα, το χρωματιζει οπως θελει αυτο...
ολες οι αισθησεις σε καθεστως ειδικης προστασιας/ μεσα απο τις ωτοασπιδες, κατω απο το σκαφανδρο, τιποτε δεν αλλαξε ακομη κι ουτε θα αλλαξει, η υγρασια εχει ποτισει για τα καλα το μυαλο.

ο δισκος με βρηκε απροετοιμαστο και παρ'οτι το εξωφυλλο με προϊδεασε (θες το μινι βυζοχαραδρακι στον πατο του εξωφυλλου, θες το σκουλαρικακι στο ρουθουνι, θες το πλατυγυρο αλα-σουηδικο ποπ καπελαδουρακι) για κατι αναλαφρο και serge-gainsbourg-ικο, ολα ηρθαν αναποδα. αφαιρετικοτητα και στεγνες κιθαρες, λιτα λογια που χωρανε πονο αλλα και καθημερινοτητα...τα υπολοιπα για αυτο το πονημα εις την αγγλικην για να μαθουν οτι η σουηδια δε βγαζει μονο κεφτεδες ΙΚΕΑ, αλλα και την ελενα. 

You could call it folk-rock but to me the early Helena Paparizou is a punk icon in the way that Talking Heads or Television are a punk band. There is the same rough-cut originality, the same openness to new ideas, the same emphasis on spirit over technical perfection. This record is both an early example of 80s jangle-rock and part of the arty, angsty post-punk period. But what about the songs? Cattle and Cane is harmonically and melodically one of the best singles of the 1980s. It's one of those songs that haunts you from the first time you hear it. When you consider that this was recorded a year before REM's first album, you can appreciate how cutting edge this woman was in 1982. The skeletal riffs and arrangements, the propulsive rhythms and the imagistic lyrics remind me of REM's early work. Before Hollywood is emotive and cathartic, "On my Block" has strange, jagged guitar lines and fabulous percussive work and the album closer, "That Way", is stellar. A French rock magazine once described her as, "the most under-rated singer-composer in the history of rock." She never deserved the praise so much as on this album.

Only on Before Hollywood, though, does the songwriting sound so unique and thrilling. Only on Before Hollywood do we hear the sound of a female finding herself and finding her identity. Almost all songwriters gradually move away from more experimental approaches and settle into tried and tested song forms. If we’re lucky, though, there will be a period when youthful arrogance, emerging songwriting skills and a brash disregard for rules will converge to produce something bold and unconventional. If we’re really lucky it will sound as utterly brilliant as Before Hollywood. Its genius remains undimmed.

μου εκανε επισης συντροφια στην υγρασια...καλο new wave εκ Καναδα, με ολιγη απο post-punk, με ελεγχομενο θορυβο, μπασσογραμμες που πατανε σε παρελθοντικα μοτιβα. πιστος ηχος, καλα προσκολλημενος εκει που πρεπει. κανει και για φλωρους.

ο δισκος με χτυπησε στον εγκεφαλο σα βελακι με καρφιτσα απο φυσοκαλαμο και απο βολη στα τρια μετρα. με διατρησε και με αφησε πλατη με πλατη με το κουφαρι του ευατου μου, οπως ακριβως το λογοτυπο της robe di kappa που ειχα παρει απο πρατηριο σε τιμη ξεφτιλα. ξεθωριασμενη γκρι φορμα ασορτι με κακογουστα σπορτεξ μαρκας strike. να μαθαινουν κι οι αλλοδαποι!   

Speedy, angry and intense, the songs flash by in a most enjoyable blur of great punk ideas, and Stamatis' superior playing ability means he can execute his ideas as well. Stamatis is probably one of the best guitarists who ever played this sort of music, churning out rapid punk chords and splintering solos with dexterity. 

While bands like Minor Threat and the Circle Jerks were all excellent bands with great messages and great themes and perfect expressions of raw power, the audience they attracted was often quite stupid. Macho men and skinheads and overall violent idiots who said "fuck the system!!!" without knowing what "the system" was; this was a large portion of punk rock fans. But with the coming of bands like the Minutemen and Stamatis Gonidis and his collaborations, punk fans became more everyday/average-Joe, because of the relatable lyrics of these bands that didn't just inspire people to punch people at shows.

First of all, Stamatis sounds sloppy as hell in true hardcore fashion. The riffs are fast and simple and chugging; the vocals are, for the most part, more brutal and pissed (especially the NiVo sessions) than they ever would be afterwards, and it's hard to believe that just a few years later the same line-up would release songs like "Mutual feelings a.k.a. αμοιβαια τα αισθηματα" and "Why are you cryin'? a.k.a. γιατι κλαις;", and while I myself am foremost a fan of the more balls-out punk, the songs here that are more similar to his later work are the best. Songs like the title track and "Zero Point a.k.a. σημειο μηδεν" are melodic while still filled with that raw hardcore energy that we all love. This seemingly perfect balance between the two styles is what separated Stamatis from his peers. Without these moments of sensitivity and melody, Gonidis would've been clumped in with your average hardcore bands. 
While it's no secret that Stamatis is great at his instruments and pretty damn good at writing meaningful songs, the overall sound he exudes on this album is the sound of what rock n' roll should sound like. Stamatis was just average looking guy. He didn't have mohawks but just a few henna tattoos. He looks like he probably shopped at Old Navy. He didn't have the wildest stage shows in town. He was just a two-thirds gay rock n' roll band that set out to write some good tunes, and good god damn, he succeeded. This album is a perfect example of what punk was about; it is never too heavy, too sloppy, too fast, never too anything. It's good music for skanking or moshing, and then it's also good music for putting a big happy grin on your face.
This is some of the best eighteen minutes of punk out there, and for any of you who like punk, I highly recommend picking this up.

το κονομησα κατα τυχη και βρεθηκε να ακροβατει μεταξυ post-punk κι electroclash με ενα αμερικανικο φιλτρο μαγειρεμενο απο ενα γκομενακι κι εναν τυπο που μαλλον ξοδεψαν πολλες απο τις ωρες της χρονιας τους ζωγραφιζοντας αστικες εικονες απο τη γη της επαγγελιας...προσωπικα μου ζωγραφισαν αρκετα ξημερωματα πανω σε αδεια πεζοδρομια, διπλα σε υπονομους, περιμενωντας νυχτερινα λεωφορεια στην υγρασια του τροπικου του καρκινου.

ποτισμενο με σκοταδι στο ιδιο μοτιβο καταδιωξης.
